summer getaway ideas

Summer is a great time to travel (ok, I think every season is a great time to travel 😉 )!

But seriously, the weather is gorgeous pretty much everywhere this time of year, the kids are off school and for many people, work slows down a bit. So why not take advantage of this and get your site seeing and adventuring in?!

Here are my 5 Epic Summer Getaway Ideas

1 London – with amazing family-friendly hotels like The Athenaeum Hotel located across from Buckingham Palace and right down the road from some of the best theaters, museums, shopping and dining that London has to offer there are so many reasons to visit. The weather, the people, the history, the culture, if London is not yet on your list yet it needs to be. This summer is also beloved author Roald Dahl’s 100th anniversary so there are lots of fantastic events going on all summer long as The BFG hits theaters. Check here for availability at The Athenaeum Hotel and get your summer family adventure booked today.

2. A National Park – Our National Parks are turning 100 this year and to celebrate all 4th graders and their families can visit any national park for free for this entire year! Take advantage of this, check out this website to find a national park near you and start the planning! Don’t have a fourth grader? Not to worry, you can still visit, just check the schedule of the national park you wish to visit for their info. We recently visited Yosemite National Park and had an incredible time, you can read about our Yosemite family trip here.

3. Martha’s Vineyard – A little island full of charm off of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This is one of my fave summer destinations. Whether you rent a house or stay in one of the quaint hotels/inns, Martha’s Vineyard is filled with things to do. From long beach days, to touring around the island to lobster bakes on the beach – there is everything you need for an incredible family summer getaway.

4. Fiji – The weather is perfect, there are a few unique celebrations going on and everyone is happy there. Staying at inclusive resorts like The Koro Sun Resort & Rainforest Spa gives you the chance to relax and be entertained along with your family. Fiji is a piece of untouched paradise just waiting for your family with open arms at The Koro Sun Resort & Rainforest Spa.

5. Staycation – go epically big! Pick a city or country you would like to visit. Then spend a week planning food, decorations, music, immerse yourself as much as possible. Enlist the kids to help you turn your home into another place then have fun learning and enjoying your new destination! Shut the phones and computers off and really pretend like you are there!

Where will your summer travels take you this year?

Anything is possible…
