9 Reasons Why Sex is Important

 

9 reasons why sex is important

Our bodies are incredible, intricately woven machines of which we need to use every part in order to function optimally.

Believe it or not, having sex (or lack thereof) greatly affects out body.

Here are 9 Reasons to Have Sex

  1. Sex helps your immune system function. Seriously!! Studies have shown that people who have sex 2x a week have higher levels of a certain antibody and take fewer sick days compared to people who are not that sexually active. You still need to do the other things to keep your immune system healthy (like eating right, getting enough sleep and being active) but having sex definitely helps.
  2. Sex lowers your risk of a heart attack. Regular sex is not only a great way to raise your heart rate, but sex keeps our estrogen and testosterone levels in balance. One study showed that men who have sex at least 2x a week were half as likely to die of heart disease as men who rarely have sex.
  3. Sex boosts your libido. Making the effort to have sex increases vaginal lubrication, blood flow and elasticity. All of this makes sex better and helps your body crave it more.
  4. Sex improves women’s bladder control. When you have an orgasm, your lady parts have contractions which strengthens them. A strong pelvic area is important for us to avoid incontinence (which already affects about 30% of us girls).
  5. Sex counts as exercise! This is perhaps one of my favorite ways to work out!! Sex uses about 5 calories per minute. As with exercise, the more regularly you have sex, the greater the benefit… I’m just saying!
  6. Sex lessens pain! It has been proven that orgasm (and sometimes even just stimulation) can block pain. So before you reach for that aspirin, go have sex first!
  7. Sex improves sleep! After an orgasm, the hormone prolactin is released. This is the hormone responsible for the feelings of relaxation and sleepiness. Having sex almost guarantees you an easy transition into the sleep realm!
  8. Sex reduces stress. Touching, hugging and being close to your partner can release your body’s natural feel-good hormone to soothe stress and anxiety.
  9. Sex makes you happy AND can boost your self-confidence! Let’s be honest, sex is fun! Think about it, you feel pretty good after right, like you can take on the world?

Sex is a big part of conscious living and keeping your body as healthy and happy as it can be.

Though it is so much fun, does anyone really need any other reason to have sex with their partner?!
