Family Travel 6 Reasons to Book a Room with a Kitchen

Traveling with kids is crazy fun!

Thanks to many modern conveniences, it is now easier than ever to bring the kids along. One of those conveniences being a suite or rental or room with a kitchen or kitchenette.  In fact, I won’t book with a resort or hotel if they don’t have some form of in-room kitchen or kitchenette!

Sound extreme?!!

Not really! Here’s why.

Family Travel: 6 Reasons to Book a Room with a Kitchen

  1. Save time. My kids are literally always eating! If I don’t bring along food and have the ability to heat it up or store it or prepare it, then I spend the entire time trying to get them food!
  2. You know the snacks and foods they like best. In between the planned meals out, it is nice to be able to have snacks and maybe a breakfast in bed or lunch without having to go out for it. If you have a young one, having a kitchen makes life so much easier when heating up baby food/formula.
  3. Save money. Eating out every meal as a family can get pricey. Having the ability to put together a simple meal in your room can remedy that! 😉
  4. Offers healthier options. Having a place to store and prepare fruits and healthy breakfast and snack options will help you eat healthy while traveling.
  5. Gives you the opportunity to really taste local food. We love to find a local farmers market, pick up something new that we are not familiar with and take it back to the room to prepare as the locals would and try!
  6. Food allergy relief. If you or any of your children have food allergies, you know it can be hard to find foods that meet your needs while traveling. Having a kitchen is the answer for you!

It seems like a small thing, but really, having a kitchen or kitchenette when traveling with kids can really be a day saver and definitely a belly saver!

Most resorts and hotels have rooms with some form of a kitchen readily available for families that travel, you just have to be sure to ask/look for it before booking. There are plenty of options out there so be sure to look around, here is how I use the internet to book our travel arrangements.

Happy and Safe Travels!

  1. SUCH a great idea and something I never realized the value of until I had to travel for work recently. They booked me at one of the Residence Inn hotels, that had a kitchenette. What a difference that made to my wallet, diet, and stress-level while traveling! It was great. I plan on doing this when we travel as a family now, too.
