Have you heard about Sun Defense Foods?

I knew there were a couple of foods that carried the ability to protect us from the UV rays if we ate them, but I had no idea there were so many, or that science has been studying this for a while now!

When WaxHead contacted me to review their organic, safe for our bodies and our oceans, sunscreen, I first checked out their website GoWaxHead.com and that is where I saw the Sun-Defense Foods section.

I was immediately intrigued.

WaxHead sent me their sunscreen and each of the Sun Defense Foods bars in exchange for my honest review. I was so excited to learn more about Sun Defense Foods and to try a sunscreen that is safe for the ocean that all words and opinions are totally my own.

What are Sun Defense Foods?

Foods that naturally protect us from the harmful rays of the sun. Things that naturally have a sunscreen in them that works from the inside of us out.

The list of Sun Defense Foods includes: colored peppers, yellow summer squash, red fruits like tomatoes, pomegranates and watermelon, sweet potatoes – especially the purple ones, broccoli & leafy greens, dark chocolate, cold-water fish – specifically the fish oil, all color teas, blue & purple berries, flaxseeds, coconut oil, almonds.

WaxHead is the first company ever to revolutionize the ability of humans to thrive in the sun by combining key ingredients into a nutrient bar – making Sun Defense Foods!

What are WaxHead’s Sun Defense Foods?

GoWaxHead.com says it best:

The world’s first sun-defense food, Waxhead nutrient bars help your skin thrive naturally in the sun. They fuel your body with loads of powerful antioxidants and vitamins, working continually to remove free radicals produced from sun exposure, to reduce skin inflammation, and to protect cell membranes that prevent DNA damage.

In short, they boost your skin’s formidable natural sun defenses against short term sunburn and long term harm, without the dangerous chemicals found in most sunscreens. Waxhead bars are based on sound nutritional science and made in the USA, with all-natural gluten-free ingredients, and with no artificial preservatives, colors, sweeteners, flavors, high fructose corn syrup or trans fats.

So far, studies are showing: “Adults start noticing significant sun defense benefits after eating 1-2 bars per day for 5-7 days” according to GoWaxHead.com.

Are WaxHead’s Sun Defense Foods Bars any good?

Yes!! Surprisingly good! Not only do I really like them, but my kids like them as well! The ingredients listed on the package are all safe and true to what they advertise. Not only are they incredibly good for you, but they taste yummy too!

They come in 4 flavors and were designed by parents in Florida who truly believed that humans are meant to thrive in the sun. They designed them for their kids, who love them and now all of our children and ourselves to give us more freedom to be outside in the fresh air!

The four flavors are Cherry Almond (my son’s fave), Dark Chocolate Banana (my daughter’s fave), Apricot Cranberry (my fave) and Cranberry Peanut (hubby’s fave).

They all are delicious, we each tested them one by one and picked our favorites. Looks like it will be the variety packs for us all summer – these bars are definitely going to be in our beach bag as our snack of choice every day! We will still use sunscreen, but I think we will need less of it!

Have you tried them yet? Get yours here, I promise, they will melt in your mouth and help keep you cool and safe in the sun!

What is better than that?!
