The Pines Resort in Yosemite Madera

The Pines Resort in Yosemite Madera

We recently took our first family trip to Yosemite National Park. It was amazing!

Of course, before planning this trip, I had no idea where to go or stay. So I checked out the Visit Yosemite Madera website for all of the local 411 and decided to contact them for help in planning this trip.

They connected us with The Pines Resort – a unique lake resort owned and operated by a family to help other families enjoy the peaceful, serene beauty of this area.

We had such a good time that The Pines Resort and I are partnering up to share my families’ experience there – as always, all thoughts, experiences and opinions are my own. Saturday I will be sharing our itinerary and our packing lists so be sure to check back!

Where is The Pines Resort Yosemite Madera Located?

This charismatic resort is located on Bass Lake in Yosemite Madera. It is a scenic 20 minute drive to the South Entrance of Yosemite National Park.

What are The Pines Resort Rooms Like?

We stayed in a charming, recently renovated Chalet. The décor is an appealing mountain style. Downstairs there are two comfortable queen size beds with good bedding and plenty of pillows. There is also a closet, a dresser with 4 drawers, a full bathroom with a shower/tub and a window that opens to a beautiful view and allows a lovely lake breeze to come in. Upstairs is a private deck with a grill and picnic table, a wood stove, a nice couch that pulls out into another queen size bed across from a coffee table and 2 chairs, a kitchen with granite counter-tops, and a bar area to sit up at.

The kitchen is stocked with decent quality pots and pans, mixing bowls, dishes, flatware and cooking utensils. There is a toaster, a microwave, a stove and oven, a full size fridge and a coffee maker. All in all, it is a good kitchen, which I find invaluable when traveling with kids. Having the ability to make your own snacks or breakfast and lunch can (and does) make life so much easier!

To the left of the kitchen, there is a ladder which goes up to a little play loft for the kids. Mine loved it! There is a little window up there and just enough room to play a board game or some card games. You will want to keep an eye on them, please don’t let them up there alone and unattended. But it is a super fun spot that my kids got a real kick out of.

It is clean, however I recommend that you wear slippers when in the chalet. You have to remember you are in the woods now and at a lake so the carpeting gets all kinds of expected wear! But the linens and towels were good quality as well as fresh and clean. The kitchen and all other surfaces were spotless.

What Amenities are available at The Pines Resort?

Right on site is a very well stocked Country Mart, they will have anything you could possibly have forgotten and it is reasonably priced (plus you get 10% off shopping here when staying at the resort).

In addition, there is a gas station, a coin laundry mat, a chapel, 2 restaurants, a bar, a post office, 2 tennis courts (one with fun lawn games), a playground, a spa, a pool that is heated April thru September and a hot tub that is hot all year! There is a lake beach and docks for you to use – both offer great fishing spots and a ton of hikes for you to take. Bass Lake Watersports is also right there offering different kinds of boat and paddleboard rentals.

If you need a CVS or a large grocery store, there is a good size town center about 15 minutes away with more fun shops, restaurants and of course the pharmacy and big grocery store.

The Pines Resort also has beautiful conference rooms as well as banquet facilities. There is a gorgeous spot for weddings. I had the opportunity to meet one of the wedding coordinators there and I was very impressed – it looks like she throws some incredible weddings and alleviates all of the hard parts for you in planning a wedding! If you are interested in a destination wedding (which I highly recommend) you definitely want to check this venue out.

This resort has endless possibilities for entertainment – the hard part is choosing what to do! In fact, there is so much to do there that next time we plan to spend a week, not just a 3 night weekend!!

How is the Staff at The Pines Resort?

Friendly, knowledgeable and ready to help! You can always tell the difference between someone who is just there to collect a pay check and someone who is there to really enhance your experience. At The Pines Resort, I found everyone to be happy and quick to help or recommend their favorite activity or spot for you to see. They were able to answer all of my questions and could easily point me in the direction of whatever I needed.

We had a really enjoyable stay at The Pines Resort and plan to go back again. The memories that we made during this trip will stay with us forever. Not only did we learn about this incredible place, but we also stepped out of our world together, slowed down our pace of life and tried some new things as a family – all great for keeping us on the conscious living path.

I am so thankful that I got to experience this brilliant little spot on earth with my family.

Don’t forget to check back Saturday for our itinerary and complete packing lists – I will be sharing everything you need to know to plan your family trip to Yosemite! Check out this weeks vlog filmed in the chalet here!

Til then, safe travels!!
