Wake-Up – It’s Time For Awareness!

Wake-Up-Awareness

Ever feel like you are just drifting through life, going from one thing to the next on autopilot, just coping… surviving? Especially during the covid quarantine?

You are not alone, you know. Many of us do. Even those of us who are already so aware, have seasons of being lost. It’s ok. We just can’t let it go on for too long.

To get out of this mode, I do my best to remember to meditate, make conscious, educated choices, and take my time – not just fly through on autopilot making pre-conditioned choices that really don’t serve me.

Conscious living and awareness go hand in hand, as we talk more about one, the other becomes highlighted just as much.

What is Awareness?

Awareness is simply making educated choices instead of automatic ones. It is looking around with open eyes and learning where things come from/how it affects others/how it impacts the earth instead of just doing what others have conditioned you to do.

Being aware, living consciously, is not just something you do once; or even something you can learn overnight.

It is something you learn over time. It is a lifestyle change.

For instance: Instead of buying the same brand of ketchup your parents bought, you read the ingredients and find the best, sustainable one for you. Instead of making a choice you were preconditioned to make and do not even think about, you learn what it is, how it affects your body and the earth AND THEN you make a choice.

Catch my drift?

And it can be applied to every avenue of life. It took me a little while to learn, as I had so many changes to make with food, cleaning products, beauty products and so much more. Awareness can even help us work through trauma and depression by showing us that we can choose – no matter how hard it is – to live the life we want and let go of hurt – as it has for me.

Curious on how you can start being more aware? You will definitely want to check out my book here on Amazon Treat Yourself Well: 8 Steps To Conscious Living where I make it super easy to start on the path to conscious living for you and your whole family.

But to get you started in the meantime, here are a few of my favorite tips on awareness!

Tips On Awareness

  1. Start journaling and reflecting on your life. Begin at square one with recording the choices you make during the day, then taking some time in the evening to review them, see if they have served you well and are what you really wanted to be doing. Regularly giving things thought helps you to slow down and to really start living. Putting it in writing helps you better understand it, process it and then choose how to change it.
  2. Begin reading labels. Become aware first of how foods are affecting your body by listening to your body. Then record in a food journal what you are eating, drinking and how it makes you feel. Review your pantry and toss anything not serving you. Start reading labels when you shop, trust me, you will learn so much!! Do the same with your products – cleaning and beauty.
  3. Consider how you impact others. Yes, you know how they made you feel. But how did you make them feel? What kind of energy are you putting out there? What kind of people do you surround yourself with? How do you treat yourself?
  4. Take an honest look at your finances. We are all so blessed to live in such a comfortable period of time. Let us start being thankful for what we have, realistic about what we can get and aware of how we can shape our future by being more conscious of our purchases and where our dollars go. Screw what the Jones’ have; you are super cool with what you have already. Try appreciating their gifts and sharing yours instead.
  5. Reflect on your daily habits and how you are choosing to spend your time. Explore yourself, your life, how you are realistically spending your time. Review that journal of your daily habits and see if that really is helping you to reach your goals.
  6. Do your own research on important political, health and vaccine news. Dig, deep. The truth is all there if you want to be aware. Stop watching the fake news and find the real information for yourself.
  7. Set yearly goals for your finances, health, travel, work, and relationships. Review them often, make a vision board, drawing attention to them will help you better create them and the life you want.

This is a great time of year to start to wake up and be aware as 2020 comes to an end. Yes, we are quarantined, things can be scary. We must wake up now, as this time can also be a time of great healing.

It just takes a little awareness…

Cheers!
