A Day At Knott’s Spooky Farm

Fall is well underway out here in Southern California with numerous opportunities for fun fall family activities everywhere. With so many options, it can be hard to pick and choose what do with the limited number of weekends available.

During the fall season, Knott’s Berry Farm (one of our favorite amusement parks) transforms into Knott’s Spooky Farm.  I’d been hearing about it for years and had always wanted to check it out. So when they invited us to come for a visit, the kids and I readily accepted!

We went this past Sunday and had a blast! I didn’t know what to expect, this being the first time to an amusement park on my own with the kids, but everyone was very friendly, the park was nice and clean and thanks to the Knott’s Berry Farm All Day Dining Pass, getting food was fast and easy!

Our Day at Knott’s Spooky Farm

We arrived at about 11am. Knott’s Spooky Farm is located in Buena Park, CA, just a bit south of LA, about an hour’s ride from the west end of Malibu. We parked in their main lot which costs $18 per auto. There are very nice restrooms located at the top of this parking lot and a safe, short path to walk to get into the Knott’s Spooky Farm park.

Upon entering they hand each child a little pumpkin plastic bag for trick or treating as there are 6 (that we found) locations to find one of the Peanuts characters and get a treat from them. The kids were super excited by this!

There were age appropriate, fun Halloween displays everywhere – perfect for lots of photo opps!! We had fun with this, some of the displays were fascinating. The kids enjoyed going through the pumpkin maze complete with talking pumpkins and a little build a pumpkin workstation.

The lines at the rides at Knott’s Spooky Farm were totally reasonable. We had a blast riding all of the fantastic rides in Camp Snoopy and Fiesta Village – the kids even got to fly!

They did some trick or treating and of course we had to stop into the 4D ride in which you go into a great underwater battle! The kids were even big enough to do their own bumper cars!

We had gotten the Knott’s Berry Farm All Day Dining Pass which lets you get an entrée plus a side every 90 minutes, drinks are not included, for $31.99 per person. This worked great and I highly recommend it. There are 7 restaurants, one or more in each section of the park so you can easily get what you would like when you would like it, to choose from. Each restaurant has at least 5 different delicious entrée’s for you to pick and are fast and easy to get. Read more about it at the link above.

After several more rides and a bit more trick or treating and eating, it was time to hit the gift shop and head home.

Parenting Tip: Gift shops are a great place for kids to start (or continue) learning about money. I like to give mine a certain amount that they are allowed to spend and let them to it. They have to figure out how much the item is, if they have enough and how much change they would receive – deciding then if they want to buy something else, save their change or donate it.

After a few minutes in one of the many lovely gift shops at Knott’s Berry Farm, we walked safely to our car and headed home.

What To Wear To Knott’s Spooky Farm

Layers and comfortable shoes! You will be doing a lot of walking so it is best to wear your sneakers or shoes that are super comfortable. Dress in layers because it can be chilly in the morning, hot in the afternoon and chilly again as the sun goes down, pretty much every day of the year! Don’t forget to wear your sunscreen too!

I always like to pack sweat shirts, a little emergency kit with band aidesknott's spooky farm and first aid cream, sunscreen, and our camera.

Our first experience at Knott’s Spooky Farm was a success and one that the 3 of us will remember forever! We had such a fantastic time.

So as you are making out your schedule of fun fall family activities here in Southern California, you must add in a day to spend at Knott’s Spooky Farm – get your tickets on KnottsBerryFarm.com today and get ready to have a frightfully good time that the whole family will remember forever!
