5 Reasons to Stay at The Athenaeum Hotel in London
Recently I took a trip to Visit Britain to learn all about Roald Dahl and The BFG.
The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) is a book written by Roald Dahl which Steven Spielberg turned into a fantastical film – you can see it in theaters now! This year also happens to be the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth so there are all kinds of amazing exhibitions, themed afternoon teas and tours to take in and around London.
For the first 2 nights of the trip, I stayed at The Athenaeum Hotel – where Steven Spielberg has an editing suite.
The Athenaeum Hotel is a 5-star luxury hotel done in chic modern décor with a cozy bar, a full restaurant, a spa, and a lovely staff who will look after your every need. I had such a great time at this hotel, here is why I will be back again soon – with my kids!
5 Reasons to Stay at The Athenaeum Hotel in London
- The Kid Concierge. The Athenaeum Hotel has a ‘Kid Concierge’ who will make sure your kids are entertained and having fun. One of my favorite features about The Athenaeum Hotel is how the kid concierge will send you a questionnaire on what types of toys/movies/video games/special foods your children prefer before you arrive. Then they stock your room for you with those specifics so your children will feel right at home. Amazing! This is a family friendly hotel, they have suites with kitchens and bunk beds available to those of us traveling with kids. The pretty couch area below turns into bunk beds for your littles at night! Now I call that conscious style!
- The Location. It is wonderfully located within walking distance of many top tourist locations including Buckingham Palace, gorgeous Hyde Park, trendy restaurants and bars, and great high-end shopping locations. Also you will find a pharmacy, grocery store and tube stops all within a short walk.
- The friendly, helpful staff. Every staff member had a smile and was quick to help with any of your needs. Further, they all seemed very friendly with each other which gives a fun, happy feel to this unique hotel.
- The lovely rooms. The rooms and suites are decorated beautifully. The beds are comfortable and they offer the conscious option to not change your sheets and towels every day. The mini-bars are well stocked, Wi-Fi is included. Coffee/tea is there for you to make in room each morning and it is quiet! I did not hear anyone about or any annoying street noise while staying here.
- The ambience. There is so much fascinating history attached to this hotel – it has been dubbed “Tinseltown on the Thames” by George Christy of The Hollywood Reporter. From A-List Hollywood stars, to The Queen taking tea, to the families of business people, you never know who you will bump into here. The one thing that is for sure, upon entering The Athenaeum Hotel, you feel welcomed into a private club of fascinating people, delicious food and drinks and luxury rooms that will make you feel like royalty.
The elegance and charm of this boutique hotel perfectly located in London made me feel welcomed and relaxed from the moment I entered. The Athenaeum is now one of my favorite places to stay and I can’t wait to bring my children to visit, I know they will love it every bit as much as I now do!
