The Aspirin Mask
We all love skin care products that use medicinal plants like witch hazel or ginseng. But who knew that aspirin could also have such big beauty advantages?
I love and use my recipe for an Aspirin Mask weekly (ok, and if I overdid the night before!).
What is An Aspirin Mask?
An aspirin mask is a DIY mask that you make from uncoated aspirin. It has been around for ages and is tested and proved to help acne, clogged pores, blemishes under/on skin, brightening the skin, and reduce scars.
It is also a great exfoliator as it does provide a lightweight peel.
How An Aspirin Mask Works
You take an aspirin to reduce swelling right? Dissolving it and putting it on your face can have the same effect!
This is because the effective ingredient in aspirin is similar to salicylic acid.
Salicylic acid is great for the skin. It exfoliates, brightens, and reduces swelling just to name a few.
I love the Aspirin Mask! I found a recipe for it accidentally when I was searching for something completely unrelated and had to try it! I then tweaked it many times over the course of a few months!

Malibu Mama Loves’ Recipe for an Aspirin Mask
8 uncoated Aspirins
1 ½ tbls. Lemon juice (can also use water if no lemon handy)
1 ½ tbls. Baking Powder
1 tsp. of melted coconut oil (can also opt for honey, olive oil or none at all. I have dry skin so I like the coconut oil)
3 drops DoTerra Wild Orange essential oil.
How to Make the Aspirin Mask
First, wipe clean a glass dish or mug – you will want something you can comfortably stick your hand in.
Then you will dissolve the aspirin in the water or juice. Use a fork to mix it.
Add baking powder. Let fizzle and sit for a few minutes, soaking up the liquid.
Add coconut oil and oil drops. Mix well. Let sit for a few minutes.
How to Use the Aspirin Mask
Please test a small circle on your arm to make sure you will not get a reaction to this. Never put something new straight on your face! If you are allergic to aspirin, then this is definitely not for you!
Liberally spread it over your face, neck and chest.
Let dry and sit on your skin for about 10-15 minutes.
Wipe off with a warm, wet cloth. Make sure to rinse the cloth out in warm water in between each wipe!
Follow with your regular face moisturizer.
How soft was your face? Did it help your blemishes?
My face is always super soft after doing this! Love it!
