August is About Malibu #AboutMalibu

Malibu is well-known for its celebrities, beaches and luxury lifestyle.

But there is so much more to this town! Malibu is a really fun place to live/visit – no matter your celeb status!!

Every day for the month of August I will post a photo of something unique in Malibu with the facts surrounding it. I will share my version of Malibu – a family friendly version – with you!

Malibu is a coastal town in Southern California that was originally settled by the Chumash, the Native American Settlers of this area. They are said to be the most advanced tribe in California of their time.

The name Malibu came from the Native American word “Humaliwo” meaning “the surf sounds loudly.” Humaliwo is what the Chumash named Malibu and since the surf definitely sounds loudly here, the name has changed slightly over the years, but has stuck.

After all, their euphoric description of Humaliwo is still accurate to this day.

Malibu is “where the mountains meet the sea and the surf sounds loudly” – sounds like heaven to me!
