The Boy Next Door

One of our local Malibu celebs, director Rob Cohen, has knocked it out of the park… again!

Last night was the screening and Q & A with the actors for the psychological thriller The Boy Next Door – opening in theaters January 23rd.

“Jennifer Lopez leads the cast in The Boy Next Door, a psychological thriller that explores a forbidden attraction that goes much too far. Directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) and written by Barbara Curry, the film also stars Ryan Guzman, John Corbett and Kristin Chenoweth.” (C) Universal

From the first moment, I was engaged in this film. The cast has a great chemistry together, the story is powerful and the photography is incredible.

The Boy Next Door is a must see on the big screen!!

At the Q&A, Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Guzman and Rob Cohen were asked which their favorite scene was. Without spoiling anything, they all agreed the bathroom scene (watch the movie – you will know the one!!) was the most powerful and gave their reasons. Here’s my reason: Because finally there is a film where the woman stands up for herself and her strength (women’s strength) truly shows! The performances given in this scene are award worthy! Jennifer, Ryan and cast, with the guidance of Rob, took this story to a whole new level. Wow, what incredibly amazing performances.

A little behind the scenes teaser – I later heard some of the crew talking about Rob’s directing methods. They all had so much respect for him and that he really has the ability to bridge a connection between actor and character psychology. That he has the capability to easily and thoughtfully bring the actor to the next level. I can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve next!

Rob Cohen paired with Producer Jason Blum and an all-star cast giving some of the best performances of their lives, #TheBoyNextDoor film is sure to be at the top of the box office for quite a while!
