How to Clean your Home Office Fast!

I often forget that our home office needs some TLC too! For me, this is one of the easier rooms to clean in our house so it often goes neglected due to the thought “Oh, I will get to that later. The kids don’t go in there!”

However, by printing (and following!) my master list of household cleaning jobs found on my Household Cleaning Tips Series page, the home office will not be forgotten!

Here are my tips on How to Clean Your Home Office Fast

Tip 1: Sort your mail every day. The junk mail can pile up real fast, so by sorting the mail each day, you won’t ‘misplace’ the important stuff. And you won’t have piles of useless paper lying about!

Tip 2: Take mugs/plates to the kitchen daily.

Tip 3: Keep your tools where you need them! I keep a duster in a cabinet in my office!

Tip 4: Pick a day. I like to do this early in the week. By doing this first thing Monday morning (or Sunday evening) you will have a clean, organized space to work in for the week.

Tip 4: Get your groove on! Here’s my once a week groove:

Put away all clutter.

Dust/wipe down all surfaces and light fixtures.

Water your air filtering plant(s) – if you don’t have one, get one!! Read about them here.

File all paid bills/paperwork.

Vacuum/mop.

Update your calendar and plan your week.

Done! That’s it! I bet it took you less than 5 minutes to clean your home office fast.

Monthly you will want to clean computer screens, keyboards and mouse. Also wipe down printers/faxes and other gadgets.

Quarterly you can sort through your paperwork and clean the windows.

Yearly you get to do 2 of the most fun things in the world – collect all of your tax info and archive your files!!
