How to Clean Your Living Areas Fast

If your living areas are anything like mine then they get cluttered up really fast!

However, by printing (and following!) my master list of household cleaning jobs found on my Household Cleaning Tips Series page you will be able to tame any nasty mess!

My Tips on How to Clean Your Living Areas Fast:

Tip 1: Keep up with the clutter! Each day, pick everything up from the floor and put away. Utilize your children, you can make it fun for them by letting them pick some ‘clean-up’ music. If it gets to overwhelming, grab a broom, sweep everything into one big pile in the middle and have at it! This method will save you some steps!

Tip 2: Keep your tools handy! I keep carpet cleaner, a duster and clothes all close. I will spot spray any spills when they happen, which is a lot for us so I keep the spray handy!

Tip 3: Vacuum at least every other day. This helps!

Tip 4: Get into a cleaning groove once a week! Here is mine:

Put all clutter away.
Straighten and dust all surfaces, picture frames, and light fixtures/lamps.
Disinfect (see here for my run down on Cleaning Products) all child level doors/windows.
Vacuum/Sweep/Mop – whatever your floor surface is, give it a good clean!

Done! That’s it! Super easy! By keeping up with it day to day, your weekly clean should be quick!

Monthly you will want to vacuum out your furniture (get under the cushions of your couch or chair), disinfect the baseboards with a wipe down and clean out your fireplace.

Quarterly you will want to steam clean your flooring and then change your seasonal décor! This is fun and my fave thing to do! Be sure to check out Joss and Main for great new seasonal looks!

Yearly you will want to wash the windows.
