5 Awesome Family Travel Spring Break Ideas
It is almost that time of year again – Spring Break. A week off from school and work before summer but after the holidays. The perfect time to go on a family adventure.
I love planning our spring break trips every year. Spring break is different in every school area and occurs during a shoulder season so, if you are wise to them, there are deals to be found everywhere.
We have now been taking Spring Break vacations for many years. Here are a few different ideas that have inspired amazing spring breaks for our families in years past!
5 Awesome Family Travel Spring Break Ideas
- Visit A National Park. There are 407 National Parks (click here to find one near you) in the USA, all of them celebrating their 100th Birthday this year in August! And thanks to a new government initiative – All fourth graders will get in to any national park absolutely FREE ANYTIME during the 2015/2016 school year through the Every Kid in a Park program (get your pass free here). Our national parks are home to amazing nature, historic structures, cultural artifacts, incredible mountains and forests, pristine lakes – all there ready for your family to have an adventure in. There are lots of great deals with resorts/restaurants/attractions in and around these parks for spring break so be sure to look around. Here is how to use the internet to book your next trip!
- The Caribbean. Growing up on the east coast, I took many vacations to various islands in the Caribbean and have so many incredible memories there as a child. It is a peaceful place where there is so much for families to do. I found this great post on Travelingmom.com on which Caribbean Island is right for your family – check it out! She gives a great description of every island!
- Great Wolf Lodge. This is an indoor waterpark resort which has everything you need to make amazing family memories together. With over 14 locations, there should be one near you! We have a new one opening up here in SoCal that I can’t wait to check out! Beyond the HUMONGOUS indoor waterpark, there is an endless list of unique activities to keep the kiddos busy and the parents happy.
- Skiing! Most mountains stay open as long as possible. Spring break is usually the end of their season so there are loads of deals to be found. I use snowpack.com to find great deals on family ski trips!
- Visit a friend or family member that you have not seen in a long time. What better use of your vacation time than to take your kids to visit an old friend or a family member?! Let them be your tour guide and show you what their town is like!
What are your great ideas for spring break this year?
No matter where you may go, I hope it is fun, safe and totally exhilarating!
