We all have at least one – that elusive dream life/job/mate/trip/shiny object… So why is it very few actually ever achieve their dream?

Have you ever heard the saying “We are our own worst enemy”? There is a reason someone said that once and it is because we are.

We have these great ideas, these dreams, but we are the first person in line to talk ourselves out of why we can’t possibly, really, actually live our dreams. So we occupy ourselves with busy work, we believe the excuses we create and we choose to invest our time in things that will give immediate comfort with the smallest amount of effort. Why? Because we think it is easier. But is it really?

Surprisingly, no! Some of us are conscious of this. Perception is key and our choices are everything. Some of us have stopped making excuses and have chosen to spend our time making our dreams a reality because at the end of the day, the way we spend our time is up to us. We have the awesome power to choose what to do with our time; by being conscious of this and making good choices, you can achieve your dreams!

Believe in yourself, identify your dream in writing and believe you can make it happen. It is so important to believe in yourself. In addition to believing in yourself, by putting your dreams into writing, it is like bringing them into the world. Now you have something to hold yourself accountable with. It is real, it is written, make it happen, only you can do it!

Step 2 How to Stop Making Excuses and Start Making Plans

Talk to your friends/family about it or find a support group on the topic of your dream and join them. Talking about your dream to others takes it ones step further to becoming real. You believe it, you have written it, now you are talking about it – it is going to happen!

Take charge of your fears! You believe in yourself and you have a great support system of people set up around you, now it is time to face your fears. Learning how to control your fear allows you to take the necessary risks to reach your dreams. Everyone has fears and those who are successful do not let their fear hold them back. Fear is actually our body’s way of keeping us alert and on our toes, so use it to your advantage!

Step 4 How to Stop Making Excuses and Start Making Plans

Put your best effort in! That means work hard. Not only will hard work make you feel far more fulfilled, it will bring you closer, faster, to your dream. Good things are not easy but oh so worth the effort! Just think, a few years of hard work for many years of benefits and healthy living!

Appreciate. Appreciate what you already have. Appreciate the friends and family in your life. Appreciate this gift of life, it is precious. Realize this and choose to do one thing today that will move you closer to your dream.
