Sharing The Journey With Moving The Human Spirit

As the celebration of Women in History continues with International Women’s Day today, I want to take some time to appreciate and share the journey, the freedoms, the rights that many of us girls take for granted today.

It wasn’t too long ago that women could not vote, were not entitled to equal pay, were not even welcomed as part of the integral workforce or schools that shaped this country (or most countries for that matter). We were expected to be seen and perfect, but never heard or understood.

And in some places still today, that mentality continues to be in play. Making women’s history and advancement that much more important.

As a survivor of domestic violence, mental abuse and so many lemons I’ve lost count, I’m standing here before you today saying Thank You to all those Who Came Before Us, who have created an environment for so many women to be so much more than we have been ever able to be in the past. I’m so glad you are here, sharing this amazing journey with me filled with bumps and bruises, smiles and laughs.

As a mom, as a business owner, as a conscious life coach, as an influencer, I’m standing before you today applauding all of the female owned businesses out there, all of the homemakers, all of the single moms, all of the conscious women out there – YOU ARE AWESOME.

Along my journey, Moving The Human Spirit, co-owned by one of the fiercest women I know who is creating groundbreaking work daily in the breakdown of trauma informed care, has become a major motivator showing me new ways. You can read about my experience in their TICB course here, and I am currently halfway through their TICC course. Loving every minute.

This second course has been mind-bending as we delve deeper into the effects of trauma on the brain and how to rewire that in a safe environment. I couldn’t feel any luckier to live in a time when women and men come together in such a creative learning space. When we can feel confident to voice our questions and concerns, as well as our solutions that may or may not fit.

As little as 40 years ago, we wouldn’t have been able to do that. Crazy thought, right?

Life is constantly changing, change is the only constant. As I raise my children, my daughter, as I grow my business, as I evolve, I am so thankful to live in a time when women have so many rights and I can use my voice.

Happy International Women’s Day.

Cheers!
