5 Tips For Your Babymoon

Babymoon

Preparing for baby is a busy time. Trying to figure out what gear and products you will need – not to mention figuring out how to have the healthiest pregnancy possible for us moms, then budgeting for all of it can bring a lot of stress to even the happiest of couples.

Chances are that both of you are exhausted from all of this and need some serious R&R before baby arrives. What better way than to take an amazing Babymoon?!

What is a Babymoon?

A Babymoon is a vacation that pregnant couples go on to reconnect, strengthen their relationship and get all of the rest and relaxation that they can!

It is a time to spoil yourselves and enjoy each other one last time before everything changes.

When is the best time to take a Babymoon?

During your second trimester, when hopefully you are feeling your best. During these 3 months you will still be able to get into your bathing suit and move around comfortably. Most airlines will allow you to fly up to 35 weeks pregnant.

5 Tips for your Babymoon

Babymoon Tip 1

Talk to your doctor first to make sure it is safe for you to travel. Get the doc on board with your trip and make an emergency plan with them, just in case.

Babymoon Tip 2

Check the medical situation of where you are traveling to. Locate the nearest ER for emergencies. If you are taking a cruise, ASK first if they have a doctor on board – smaller size cruises many times do not have a doc on board so please be sure to ask. If you are traveling overseas, always research if there are any vaccinations that you would need.

Babymoon Tip 3

Pick a location that you BOTH would like. This is a time for both of you so going someplace that only one of you wants is no good!

Babymoon Tip 4

Don’t be shy! Remember all of the perks/upgrades of being on your Honeymoon? Well many places (and people along the way) will show the same love to the couples on their Babymoon so it does not hurt to let people know as you are booking, traveling and relaxing!

Babymoon Tip 5

Agree to not discuss any ‘hot’ topics on the trip! Things like work, money or family issues cause stress so leave them at home, for a few days anyway! Your Babymoon is a time for laughing and loving. It is OK to ignore the everyday stressors of life for a few days (or even a week) and focus on each other.

Why we took a Babymoon

We were living in Rhode Island at the time of my first pregnancy so we decided to get away for a 4 day trip to Florida. It was bliss. We laughed, we loved, we played, we spoiled ourselves, we ate when WE felt like it and we woke up when WE wanted to. This may sound silly right now, but just being able to eat and sleep on your own schedule will seem like a dream to you once Baby comes!

My best advice to pregnant parents – take a Babymoon while you can!

Happy Travels!
