Our Review of The Pavilion Hotel on Catalina Island
Located right in the center of Avalon sits the Pavilion Hotel. A trendy, comfortable hotel with lovely harbor views, easy access to everything Catalina Island has to offer and a very friendly staff.
Recently, we took a sponsored mother/daughter trip to Catalina Island (read about it here) and stayed at the Pavilion Hotel. It was out first time there and I did not know what to expect. We were excited, as Pavilion Hotel has great reviews and it looked amazing.
Our Review of The Pavilion Hotel on Catalina Island
We arrived on the Catalina Express to Avalon, Catalina. A bellman met us as we got off the ferry, took our luggage and directed us just down the beach path and across the street to the Pavilion Hotel. It was less than a 4 minute walk and I have to say, it was really nice to be able to stretch our legs and breath in the glorious ocean air for a few minutes.
Check in was quick and simple, the staff was smiling, friendly and looked well put together, putting us right at ease. We had 25 minutes to change and get to our parasailing adventure and the staff at the front desk totally helped us make it happen!
We got our bags back to our room. The room was spacious and clean with a nautical theme. It was very comfortable with plenty of pillows, very nice linens, cozy beds and warm blankets.
The bathroom was clean and functional. They have everything from hair dryers to tea and coffee needs all in the room for you. The TV was easy to figure out, the clock was set right so all was really good!!
After our parasailing adventure I was looking forward to checking out one of my favorite things that only some hotels do… the complimentary wine and cheese hour! The reason I love when hotels do this is because it offers such a fun, unique opportunity to have some down time with your travel partners and to meet some of the other guests.
The Pavilion Hotel has plenty of places for you to sit, relax, enjoy some solitude or some company – it is completely up to you. We chose to sit around the fire pit and have some fun conversation with other guests. They had 3 wines to choose from, spa water or hot cider and a lovely cheese display for people to enjoy. We went both evenings.
It was so peaceful sitting there with my daughter, enjoying a drink together and having fun trying new cheeses with incredible harbor views and some really fun other guests.
The Pavilion Hotel offers a complimentary breakfast each morning and they knocked it out of the park. There was oatmeal, eggs, bagels, sausage, bacon, cereal, yogurt, pastries, toast, fruit…. So much!! And it all tasted amazing. We decided to bring our breakfast both mornings out to the fire pit tables. It really was a great start to each day after getting such a good night’s sleep!
Another thing that we loved about staying here is how close it is to… everything! It is just a short walk to everything fun that Catalina Island has to offer. It is in the center of town so the shops and restaurants are right there, the spa is only a 3 minute walk (I timed it!!), the casino a 10 minute lovely walk around the harbor and Descanso Beach Club with The Catalina Treetop Adventure is about a 20 minute really, really pretty walk!
The Pavilion Hotel and Visit Catalina Island offer a lot of really good package deals, you can check them out here. Depending on your needs I would recommend which one fits best for you because they really do take great care of you at The Pavilion Hotel. There is so so much to do there!
