Take A Look
As 2020 is winding down to a close, I like to take some time to review the year and check in with myself. I feel like the years go by so fast now and if I don’t continually grow awareness of my life, it can quickly pass me by! You know what I mean?!
And what an interesting year 2020 has turned out to be. We are living through a plague; we are surviving riots, fires; finding our way through all of the fake news and media; we are finding ways to thrive in quarantine. I mean, everything has changed, hasn’t it? And quickly too.
It can be overwhelming and scary. Depression, anxiety, stress has all become normal for many.
A great way to overcome these feelings is a little self-reflection. Take an honest look at your past year, detail in writing the pros and cons of the year. Then take some time to journal about how you have changed in this year and think about the things you want out of this new way of life.
Read this post on setting goals, it is filled with great info on why and how to set your goals. Once you have your goals set for this year, set your intentions.
I like to do this by picking an intention word of the year. I have been doing this for 6 years now and this practice has definitely helped to keep me focused on my goals throughout the year. It is important not only to set your goals, but to fully understand and believe that they are attainable and completely possible.
We need to intend for them to happen. Once I began setting an intention word for the year that would push me out of my comfort zone, incredible things began happening. You can read more about that here along with great tips on setting your own intentions.
Change is hard enough with one thing, but when many things are changing it can be really important to have goals, intentions, and time to honor them. As we wrap up 2020 and prepare for an entirely new kind of a year, I encourage you to take some time to reflect on and appreciate all of the lessons 2020 has brought us.
Let’s turn them into success stories for 2021, anything is possible.
Cheers!
