7 Reasons To Take Your Child To The Gym Today

Conscious Parenting: Reasons to take your child to the gym

Roughly 1/5 of the children ages 2-17 in the USA today are obese or well on their way. Fewer then 25% of these kids are getting the recommended by the AMA amount (which is so low) of 60 minutes per day of physical activity.

We all know this. Just as we all know there are many, many factors. Like the quality of our food, not being aware of what chemicals are doing to us –the nasty toxins, our water quality, being overworked just to put food on the table, lack of sleep and all of the stress that daily life brings are all reasons why the children of this great country are struggling with their health.

When Should You Take Your Child To The Gym?

There are a million excuses we as parents come up with to paint this unhealthy red flag green. Let’s be honest, we have heard them all, we have probably used several of these excuses ourselves, right?!

As conscious parents, it is our job to do the heavy lifting, the hard work, the motivating, the teaching, the leading by example. They learn from us, so why not impart our good, conscious, healthy workout habits on them during an age when they are sponges soaking up everything?

If your child is older than 6 years and is able to listen and control their bodies a little, than they are ready for the gym!

Conscious Parenting: Reasons to take your child to the gym

This summer, as I disconnected to reconnect, I realized my littles are getting older. Though we are very healthy, I feel they are old enough now to begin coming to the gym with me for 20 minutes to help them form healthy, conscious habits that will stay with them forever. We started in June and actually all 3 of us really look forward to going daily together now.

Crazy, right?

  1. Take your child to the gym – It will keep them healthy. Children who are physically active and get their heart rates up for more than 60 minutes a day show lower rates of obesity and depression. Going to the gym is a great way for them to get their heart rates up, get some frustration out (cause growing up is hard to do) and keeps them super healthy with no room for depression.

A healthy body makes way for a brilliant mind. Body and brain development go hand in hand and it is critical right from a young age. When kids are active, their brain develops allowing for new thoughts and ideas to flow. A gym workout also helps kids build cooperative learning skills. By oxygenating your brain and stimulating your muscles, your mind can come up with brilliant new ideas and methods.

If we can help our children learn to like going to the gym and pushing their bodies towards health from a young age, we will be putting them onto a path for success, a higher consciousness and happiness.
  4. Take your child to the gym for – The bonding experiences. Believe it or not, it is fun. My children do the treadmill for 10 minutes to warm up, we then do free weights together and finish with using a few machines. We laugh, we push each other, we help each other. We have a good time together and it brings us closer to each other.
  5. Take your child to the gym – It is a great time to teach fitness values. By showing your children that you value your own fitness level, they will learn the importance of good fitness and strive to keep themselves on that same conscious path. You can instill the mindset early on and hopefully get them in the habit of making good health conscious choices.
  6. Take your child to the gym – Active children become active adults. Taking your child to the gym will help socialize your child while promoting good habits to help guide our children to be active, conscious members of their community. Conscious Parenting: Reasons to take your child to the gym
