Mother’s Day in Malibu
Being a mother has been the most incredible experience of my life. As we all know, life moves fast – especially when there are one or more extremely busy little people in your sphere. So I try to take every moment I can to slow down and appreciate my children and all of the experiences they have brought into my life.
Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity for that.
No, I don’t want the day off from my kids so I can appreciate them. I just want the day off from doing all of the packing/cooking/spot cleaning/directing that goes along with day to day life with kids so I can actually have fun with them too!!
Here is my plan for this Mother’s Day in Malibu:
Wake up when my kids jump in to snuggle me, I love starting my day this way! I will leave a light breakfast up to my mate, and anything that gets spilled is his today too!!!
We will then head over to the gorgeous Malibu Beach Inn. It is right next to Malibu Pier, which the kids love to walk (rather run) down – doing this lets the kids get some energy out resulting in better behavior at brunch. So first we will walk the Pier then head over to Malibu Beach Inn for their 5 star Mother’s Day Brunch presented by Chef de Cuisine Victor Morales. I am so excited for this! You can see the whole menu here. I have no idea how I am going to choose – red velvet pancakes, oysters, tuna taretare, seabass, lobster club, Escabeche Spiced Fish Tacos… shall I continue or is your mouth watering as much as mine is now?! I can’t wait!
Side note – If you are looking for something to do this Mother’s Day and you are far, you can book an amazing ocean-side room at the Malibu Beach Inn. It is a lovely, peaceful, relaxing place to stay. I have no doubt that they will take good care of you and provide you with every chance to spoil yourself and your mom on Mother’s Day Weekend!
Next up is a walk on Zuma Beach (check here for Malibu Beach Etiquette) over to Trancas Country Mart. Depending on how far we all feel like walking, we will choose the best parking lot (they span the whole beach). The whales are still migrating so I hope we will get to see some! I am sure we will see dolphins and seals too! We always have such nice walks on this beach.
At the end of Zuma beach, you can cross the road (safely at the crosswalk please!!) and enter the beautifully reconstructed Trancas Country Mart. There you will find the Vintage Grocers where your mate can take the kids in for a homemade Kombucha or a treat from their bakery (mine will be!) while you go next door to the Malibu Beach House (one of my fave shops!).
You cannot visit the Trancas Country Mart without stopping into the Malibu Beach House, a decor shop featuring beautifully curated Malibu Chic décor items for every room in your home. If you are looking for a unique piece of Malibu to take with, Malibu Beach House is the place for you to find it! I just found out they even do wedding registry – check it out, wish they were around when I was getting married…!!! Loving their Mother’s Day display –
After a lovely walk back to the car we will head home. My mate is particularly good at grilling things so I am hoping for a lovely grilled dinner, fixed (and cleaned up after) by my family (hint hint hint)!
AND THEN, I am going to throw this one out there for the universe just because: The best gift ever would be for my children to both go to sleep when asked without popping out a million times… Lol!
A mom can dream, can’t she…
Even if my kids don’t go right to bed, this is will be an amazing Mother’s Day in Malibu – what will you be doing?
We would love to have you join us here in #Malibu, but either way, I hope you have a spectacular day – you deserve it!
